EXTREMELY UNDERRATED SUPER 8 CAMERA — A HIDDEN GEM!
If you're looking for a Super 8 camera that gives you serious creative control without spending a fortune, take a close look at the Chinon 612XL Macro. This is one of those cameras that doesn't always get the attention it deserves, and that's exactly what makes it such an exciting find!
With a larger, sharper and more versatile lens than you'll find on popular cameras like the Canon 310XL or Canon 514XL, the Chinon 612XL Macro is an incredible choice for anyone who wants to get more creative with Super 8 film.
Whether you're shooting dreamy vintage footage, music videos, short films, travel footage, family memories, or your first Film School project, this camera gives you a LOT to work with.
🎥 SHOOT SUPER 8 ... AND GET CREATIVE!
The Chinon 612XL Macro is especially appealing for normal and low-light filming, making it a great camera for those classic atmospheric Super 8 shots that digital cameras simply can't reproduce.
And the fun doesn't stop there:
🔥 30 fps slow-motion capability
🔍 Macro focusing for close-up shots
🎯 Split-image focusing
🎬 Manual AND powered zoom
🌙 Excellent low-light capability
☀️ Backlight control for challenging lighting situations
🎞️ 18 fps, 30 fps and single-frame shooting
Press the 30 fps button while filming, then play the film back at the standard 18 fps rate to create a natural slow-motion effect. It's a fantastic feature for adding movement and cinematic character to your Super 8 footage.
The 220° shutter and versatile 7–42mm zoom lens give you plenty of creative flexibility, while the macro function lets you get dramatically closer to your subjects.
🔍 THE LENS
Chinon Zoom 1:1.2 / 7–42mm
That's an extremely versatile zoom range for Super 8, equivalent to approximately 43–266mm on a 35mm full-frame camera using a 6.19x crop factor.
The combination of a fast f/1.2 lens, long zoom range and macro capability makes this camera particularly interesting for filmmakers who want to experiment.
⚙️ FULLY TESTED & GUARANTEED
This camera has been THOROUGHLY TESTED by us. Its mechanical operation and functions are tested before shipping, and the functions specifically described in this listing are GUARANTEED.
The motor runs smoothly at all speeds. Manual zoom operation is smooth and precise. The powered zoom works, although it can occasionally be finicky.
This is a professionally tested vintage Super 8 camera — not a random garage-sale find.
If you're serious about getting a properly tested, functional Super 8 camera, you're in the right place.

IMPORTANT CONDITION INFORMATION
All Super 8 cameras are approximately 50 years old. Please understand that no vintage lens will be absolutely perfect. That said, because of the relatively low resolution of the Super 8 format, many minor lens imperfections will not be visible once film is developed.
We specialize in professional mechanical servicing and full functional testing of vintage Super 8 cameras. We do not restore or refinish cosmetic aspects such as scuffs, paint wear, loose leather panels, eyepiece wear, or other exterior aesthetics.
Some signs of age are completely normal on a 50+ year-old camera.
We stand behind the smooth mechanical performance and the functions specifically described in this listing.
